The airport is situated 32km (20 miles) east of Abu Dhabi

Airport News
Two new terminals opened at the airport in August 2005. Terminal 2 was opened 900m away from Terminal 1 and caters for 15 airlines. The Gulf Traveller Terminal (Terminal 1A) is situated opposite and below Terminal 1 and is for those travelers using the economy airline Gulf Air.

Driving Directions
Three highways lead from the city center to the airport. Khaleej Al Arabi (Highway 30), Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Street (Highway 2) and Salam Street (Highway 8) all merge into one main highway which leads directly to Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Car Parking
Long- and short-term secure parking is available close to the Departures and Arrivals gates.

Car Hire
Companies represented at Abu Dhabi International Airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar and Thrifty.

Public Transport
Road: Taxi: Al Ghazal Transport operates a fixed-rate service to the city center. Bus: The municipal bus service runs 24 hours a day; buses are green and white, air-conditioned and depart from outside Arrivals.

Information and Help Desks
There is an information desk in the main landside concourse near the shopping area before check-in. In the airside shopping area, there is a customer service desk.

Airport Facilities
Money and communications: There are ATMs, a bank and bureau de change, and a post office at the airport. Public telephones are situated throughout the terminals. Eating and drinking: There are coffee shops, snack bar and a bar/restaurant in Terminal 1. There are cafes both on the landside and on the airside of Terminal 2. Shopping: There is a duty-free shopping complex and additional shopping opportunities within the terminals. The retail space at the airport was vastly increased with the opening of two new terminals in 2005, and a new arrival shop has also been opened in Terminal 1. Other facilities: A VIP lounge is situated on the airside of the new Terminal 2. The five-star airport hotel also offers a VIP lounge, a health club with sauna, Jacuzzi and gym, and a children’s play area. There is also an 18-hole sand golf course.

Conference and Business Facilities
There is a business center at the Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel (tel: (0)2 575 7377) providing telephone, fax, Internet and secretarial services. The Abu Dhabi Airport Golf Club (tel: (0)2 575 8040) can provide conference and banqueting facilities. Many airlines provide business-class lounges; there is also a VIP lounge for passengers choosing the Golden Class service (tel: (0)2 575 7466).

Facilities for Disabled Travelers
The airport is easily accessible to disabled travelers. There is a special check-in gate with direct access from the car park, as well as lifts and disabled toilets. The Golden Class meet-and-assist service (tel: (0)2 575 7466) is available to provide personal assistance.

Hotels
Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel (tel: (0)2 575 7377) is a transit hotel which has around 40 rooms, as well as a VIP lounge, restaurant, bar, children’s playroom, massage chairs, health club with jacuzzi, fully-equipped business center, sauna and gym. In addition, the hotel has a lounge in which travelers can rest before their flight and a secure luggage room.
