WarningMost visits to Paraguay are trouble-free. The threat from terrorism is low. But travelers should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks which could be against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners.
During December 2006, there were demonstrations in the downtown area of Asunción. Protests area likely to continue and could lead to localized violence. You should avoid large public gatherings.
Since January 2007, an outbreak of dengue fever, including a number of deaths, has been reported. The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare have issued a country-wide alert and a control program is underway.
Visitors should be aware that violent crime is increasing; be on guard and exercise caution at all times, particularly in cities at night.

Note1A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travelers over nine months leaving Paraguay to go to endemic areas (forested areas in the east and west of the country). A certificate is also required from travelers coming from endemic areas.
