Tour Overview
The Annapurna Region is the best area for introductory trekking. Stunning mountain scenery, relaxed walking on well-defined trails and quality local lodges make this trek one of our most popular adventures. We trek as a small group allowing us to stay in some of the smaller lodges that are located away from the main trails of this popular trekking area. We explore the terraced hillsides and beautiful forest, meet friendly villagers and enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery in style and comfort. From Kathmandu, we fly west to the lakeside town of Pokhara at the foot of the Annapurna range and drive to the trek start at Naya Phul. From here we follow the Modi Khola River to the picturesque village of Shyauli and enjoy stunning views of the famous 'fishtail' peak, Machhapuchhare (6993m), before ascending through terraced fields and small thatched hamlets to Ghandruk. Our lodge is located close to the heart of the village and we have plenty of time to explore and photograph Annapurna South, Huinchuli and Machhapuchhare that dominate the landscape beyond the village. On our ascent we follow a trail through magnificent forests of oak and rhododendron to Tadapani and then continue to climb above the tree line to an alpine ridge at Deurali. From here we enjoy an early morning sunrise excursion above our lodge to view one of the most spectacular panoramas in Nepal. A sea of peaks lines the horizon with Dhaulagiri Himal, the Annapurna range and the magnificent peaks of Manaslu making for a stunning vista that encompasses three mountains over the magic 8000-metre mark. From Deurali we follow an old trading route from Tibet, back to Naya Phul and Pokhara. We spend two nights in Pokhara, relaxing close to the shores of Lake Phewa before returning to Kathmandu.
