Your great African adventure begins with amazing game viewing in the Masai Mara and spectacular views while travelling through the Great Rift Valley to Lakes Naivasha and Nakuru. Make a difference by spending five days volunteering with children in an orphanage and assisting doctors in a local medical clinic.
Day 1 Arrive Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi at any time.
Day 2 Masai Mara (B,L,D)
Travel to Kenya's most sought-after safari destination. After setting up camp on the banks of the Talek River, enjoy an evening game drive in the spectacular Masai Mara National Reserve with excellent chances of seeing the "Big 5" - lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino.
Days 3-4 Masai Mara (2B,2L,2D)
Spend the next two days in search of unforgettable wildlife encounters. The Masai Mara boasts the highest concentration of wild animals in the country. Home to the famous wildebeest migration, it is also known for its plentiful game and abundance of predators.
Day 5 Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)
Lake Naivasha is found in the heart of the Rift Valley and in the shadow of the extinct volcano - Mount Longonot. Giant acacia trees are home to a magnificent diversity of bird species and monkeys. Optional activities include game walks, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing and hippo safaris.
Days 6-7 Lake Nakuru (2B,2L,2D)
Enjoy game drives along the shores of Lake Nakuru, a shallow soda lake renowned for its huge concentration of flamingoes. We spend our time viewing large herds of buffalo, zebra, giraffe and other plains-game. This area is also well known for frequent rhino and leopard sightings.
Day 8 Limuru (B,L,D)
Continue on to Limuru surrounded by rolling hills blanketed by vast coffee and tea plantations. Spend the afternoon at leisure and in the evening you will learn about your community volunteer program.
Days 9-13 Community Volunteer Project (5B,5L,5D)
Volunteer and experience life in the outskirts of Nairobi, where lives have been dramatically impacted by poverty, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. Volunteer in a local medical clinic working hand in hand with doctors and nurses and in an orphanage with time spent interacting with the children and providing assistance where needed. Activities may include teaching, playing games, assisting with the feeding program, painting and general maintenance. No experience necessary.
Day 14 Depart Nairobi (B)
